Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PC) - The bitching...

I've followed the boycotting/whining about the game since it started. I even agreed. No dedicated servers, VAC, match making, no custom content, no console etc. It's all not what we PCers are used to and want. Although it is a down grade, I believe it is a good direction for PC games. It allows better control of piracy (yes it will still happen). The developers behind the game will make more money (DLC ex: map packs) so they can keep making more games. So even if piracy is a problem, the people supporting the game by buying it should replace a lot of the lost money from piracy.

The rest is my opinion... VAC vs PB, I believe PunkBuster is way better than VAC although a lot of the times PunkBuster is a bitch and you need to manually update it. Casual players are thrown off by this and end up not playing the game or have a very bad experience. The reason I believe PB is better is because it is it's own process, PB is always running. VAC cannot detect ring0(kernelmode) cheats, almost every paid for cheat is ring0. PB can detect ring0 because it is it's own process, VAC can only detect ring3. Console being gone is a pro and a con. I believe it's good to be gone because some people just don't know what they're doing and end up having a bad experience with the game, because someone tricked them into running some command (idiot of course but still) or people modify the shit out of the game and ruin it, but sometimes they improve it. It's bad because we PCers love our fine tweaks it's one of the many things that separates us from the consoles. Closing this PC vs Console gap is better for the developers, although not so much for most gamers. Taking away this gap will help sales and keep games alive so just deal with the changes.
